The New Faculty Orientation Course guides recently hired instructors at New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) through their first ten-week term of teaching. The course emphasizes the basic use of the learning management system (Canvas LMS) and school-wide course administration requirements. In addition the Orientation course provides resources and guidance in pedagogical strategies and student support, and models numerous best practices for the online classroom. The course maintains a travel theme to provide improved engagement, relatability, social connection within the cohort, visual interest, and accountability for required elements.
