Closing the Handwork Experience Gap (CHEG) is a two-module online training course that provides teachers with rationale and practical experience that support the integration of hands-on projects into established K-12 academic curriculum. Course designer Elizabeth, also a skilled hand bookbinder, leverages her own knowledge of book arts and skill development to deliver this elegant and fun integrative teaching approach.
This project fulfilled the Capstone requirements for Elizabeth's Master's degree in the area of Digital Media Design, Harvard University, with a heavy focus on instructional design. As part of the Capstone semester Elizabeth designed, authored, curated, built, and piloted the course. Feedback surveys were built into the flow of lessons.
